TAC ONE Consulting utilizes an expert firearms training cadre that is comprised of individuals who possess years of real-world experience training police officers and SWAT teams, as well as U.S. and foreign militaries in firearms skills and tactics. Our trainers have utilized the weapons and the tactics taught in real world situations; from police patrol duty and police special weapons teams, to military Special Operations conducted in the War on Terrorism. We have developed our teaching proficiency and philosophy through years of real-world application, learning what really works, and providing you training with proven methodologies and tactics.
Our instructor cadre possesses a wealth of experience as instructor-trainers, passing their extensive knowledge of firearms instruction to the next generation of law enforcement firearms trainers. Our instructors have overseen basic police academy firearms programs, developed and instructed POST firearms instructor certification courses, taught advanced firearms instructor seminars, and have been featured presenters at state, regional and national firearms instructor training events. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
Carbine Operator Course:
Law enforcement agencies across the nation have begun to recognize the necessity for officers to be armed with a weapon that provides capabilities beyond the handgun or shotgun. This 24 hour, POST-approved Carbine Operator Certification course is designed to provide law enforcement officers the necessary skills to deploy with the law enforcement carbine as a duty weapon. The student will develop a full understanding of the capabilities of the carbine, to include: appropriate set up and accessories for the carbine, weapons maintenance, fundamentals of shooting, proper zeroing, “combat” shooting techniques, use of various positions and cover, efficient weapons manipulation skills, malfunction clearances, understanding wound ballistics, tactics and techniques for fighting with the carbine, extended range shooting, low light / night techniques, and use of optical sights.
Handgun Instructor Certification Course:
Pre-requisites: Students must be sworn Law Enforcement Officer
This 44 hour POST approved Handgun Instructor Certification course is designed to provide law enforcement officers the necessary skill and knowledge to develop and operate a law enforcement firearms / handgun program for their agency and or teach handgun skills in a police academy setting. Students will learn how to develop and maintain a firearms program, manage and operate training ranges, and diagnose shooting errors then make sustainable corrections in other shooters. The student will develop and practice the ability to instruct: running ranges, “coaching the shooter”, appropriate set up and accessories for the handgun, weapons maintenance, fundamentals of shooting, “combat” shooting techniques, use of various positions and cover, efficient weapons manipulation, malfunction clearances, understanding wound ballistics, tactics and techniques for fighting with the handgun, extended range shooting, and low light / night techniques.
Carbine Instructor Certification Course:
Pre-requisites: Students must be sworn Law Enforcement Officer
Completed basic handgun / firearms instructor certification
Completed carbine / patrol rifle operator certification
This 40 hour POST approved Carbine Instructor Certification course is designed to provide law enforcement firearms instructors the necessary skill and knowledge to develop and operate a law enforcement carbine program for their agency. Students will learn how to develop and maintain a carbine program, operate training ranges, and diagnose shooting errors then make sustainable corrections in other shooters. Advanced Handgun Instructor Skills Seminar:
Pre-requisites: Student must be a sworn Law Enforcement Officer
Completed basic handgun / firearms instructor certification
Course Description: This 16 hour POST approved Advanced Handgun Instructor Skills course is designed to build upon the existing firearms instructor’s skills. This is not a basic instructor certification course. This course will focus heavily on “coaching the shooter” and will greatly enhance the instructor’s ability to diagnose shooting errors in an easily understood manner, and provide practical and effective means to make permanent and sustainable corrections. The student will further develop their understanding of the capabilities of the police handgun, and their ability to teach: appropriate set up and accessories for the handgun, weapons maintenance, fundamentals of shooting, “combat” shooting techniques, use of various positions and cover, efficient weapons manipulation, malfunction clearances, understanding wound ballistics, tactics and techniques for fighting with the handgun, extended range shooting, and low light / night techniques. The student will be exposed to numerous shooting drills to reinforce the learning objectives.
Advanced Carbine Instructor Skills Seminar:
