As we end the work week, details are still emerging in yet another active shooter incident, this time in New York City outside of the Empire State Building. As I write, details are sketchy but there appears to be 2 deceased and 8 others wounded with their status unknown right now and reports are coming in that it was a disgruntled employee incident. One of the deceased does appear to be the gunmen.
Sadly, these incidents aren’t going anywhere. And as awareness increases, we are seeing other trends as well.
- Increase in corporate & business awareness & training
- Increase in CCW permit & training interest
- Private Security firms for the hospitality industry & others increasing training and education
- Increase in law enforcement offering top notch mental and physical active shooter & Lone Wolf training
- Local governments taking precautions at political events and gatherings
At TAC*ONE Consulting, we have had a increase in all of these areas inquiring about our various offerings. Civilians are asking about CCW permits, self defense training and learning to protect themselves. Local governments are taking precautions and becoming trained in dignitary protection. Law Enforcement units are seeking grants and increasing training budgets to get their officers prepared and ready for the when, not the if anymore. And more and more security firms for businesses & corporations, resorts and large entertainment entities are taking an active interest in active shooter preparation.
When we are trained and prepared, lives are saved. Senseless acts of violence are not going anywhere. But whether you are are professional or a civilian, there are steps you can take to be aware and more prepared than you are today. We can help you get to where you or your team are more ready than they are now.
Our most sincere condolences to all of the victims and their families in New York this morning.
